A favorite of those who like their coffee strong, we roast South American and African coffee moderately dark to bring the volatile oils to the surface. The result is an intense caramel flavor that comes from the best dark-roasted beans we can find.
Not sure which grind option to choose?
- Drip - a regular grind for everyday coffee brewers. This option will work great for most methods of brewing.
- Fine - best used for Melitta pour or espresso machines.
- Coarse - best used for cold brew or French press coffee makers.
- Whole Bean - keeps your coffee fresh for the longest amount of time. Only choose this option if you have access to a coffee grinder.
How long should this coffee last you? You may be tempted to order more immediately because it tastes so good, but 2 lbs. of coffee can make up to 80 8 oz. cups. Even if you are a regular coffee drinker, a 2 lb. bag can last you weeks! Buying a cup of coffee at your local chain or café can cost you $100 or more per month. There's no need to spend that much. Save money and enjoy a fresher, better cup with Richard Alan.

I just got another five pound bag of coffee and made the mistake of not changing the auto populated field from ground coffee to whole bean coffee. To prevent people from making this mistake, you should have to make a positive entry on that field instead of having it auto populated as ground coffee. I have also come close to making this mistake several other times and had caught my error, but this time i wasn't so lucky.
This particular coffee, the French Roast , is by far the best out there. I really want I try other flavors. Quality coffee for sure. I wish they would sell sample sizes of of other choices in whole beans enough to make a couple cups so we can taste test before buying a whole pound. Hopefully in the future.
The French roast has a nice smooth balanced taste without bitterness nice brew will reorder
Well done -- brings back memories of this roast that was an everyday staple when living in Montreal and also when traveling in France/Switzerland. Glad we were introduced to Richard Alan coffees
I buy this coffee for my husband and son because they both love it. I usually buy the whole bean so that they can grind it themselves. The aroma of the grinding and brewing are heavenly, as is the taste! We love Richard Allen coffee!!
My husband and I first enjoyed this coffee at a local restaurant so much, we inquired about the source. This led to the purchase of your French Roast online. We have liked the smoothness of this coffee, it does not have the harshness you find with some French Roasts. We enjoy it at all times of the day.
